ABOUT JANE Jane Shibata is an adjunct instructor in art and design at Santa Monica College and runs an independent design business, specializing in the lettering arts, in Los Angeles, California. She recently ended a four-year stint as a calligrapher in the City Clerk Creative Services division for the City of Los Angeles. Jane received her BA and MA in art and design at UCLA. She is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) and has exhibited in CPSA chapter exhibits. Some of her skyscapes are published in The Best of Colored Pencil, Creative Colored Pencil, The Best of Colored Pencil 3, and Creative Colored Pencil Landscapes. Jane has taught workshops for two international lettering conferences, other lettering and art guilds in the U.S., the Society for Calligraphy Southern California, and the Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California (BAGSC). In addition to painting, Jane combines her design, lettering, and drawing in the book arts.
